About Vintage Autocraft. Some people just know what they will be and do. It seems Tim Marinos, owner of Vintage Autocraft, is that type of person. Tim started thinking about and drawing pictures of cars and dragsters in 2nd grade and at the age of 12 started a life long passion of working on them. The opportunity came when his older brothers' friend wrecked a '67 Camaro convertible. After purchasing a Camaro donor car, he let Tim help with the repair. High school offered mechanics, welding, sheet metal, and machine shop. Tim took every class available. He was a teacher's aide his senior year in welding and competed successfully in welding competitions. Upon graduating, Tim worked with well known Pacific Northwest rod builder, Russ Meeks. Along with other street rod projects, he helped Meeks on the reconstruction of the Olds Toronado powered '32 Ford Roadster that Meeks had won the Prestigious America's Most Beautiful Roadster award in 1972.
Next was a degree in auto body and refinishing at a college where Tim later taught while he was operating a restoration shop in Oregon. Besides his own shop, Tim has worked at some top name shops including a time as a working manager at the world renowned Paul Russell and Company where he further honed his skills and knowledge on early Porsches, Mercedes Benz, and Ferraris.
Even after restoring cars professionally for 28 years, Tim believes in continuing to learn and grow and keeps up with new products and procedures to be even more efficient and produce longer lasting results. Tim's goal is to operate a focused shop in which he can work closely with customers to provide a high caliber of workmanship and complete projects in a timely manner.
"From time to time, I'm asked if I have a favorite restoration project that I have been involved in. Even though I enjoy the challenge of every restoration project," Tim says, "I must admit that I do have one. After leaving Paul Russell & Co. to move back West, Paul invited me back to complete the body and paint work in this beautiful 1938 Alfa Romeo 2900 8C Mille Miglia. Truly an astonishing car!"
